Then There Were Three

(Golfito, Costa Rica)

I woke this morning with the fever of an 8-year-old on Christmas. Sarah and Melissa were arriving today and I couldn’t, just couldn’t, be more excited.

I leapt out of bed around 6 am and proceeded to complete my remaining jobs. By 7:01 I was sitting counting the hours. So many hours. The girls, and their men – I should mention my girls were bringing their boys and seeing them was just as exciting – were flying into San Jose and then driving their rental car out to Golfito. Therefore, I was expecting them anywhere between 7pm and 12pm.

To fill the dragging hours we moved the boat back to Golfito, went grocery shopping, and cleaned forgotten corners of the boat. As their arrival confirmation emails began to roll in my excitement levels went through the roof. Come 9:30pm, to Gregory’s chagrin, we were sitting up at Land and Sea’s deck waiting for their hollers in the street.

Finally, just before midnight, the familiar yells of English and an old friend were heard sailing in from the street. They were here!

One of my favourite photos of the three of us, taken two and a half years ago.
